Couples Counselling
The need to feel deeply connected to another person is a basic biological need for all humans. Couple Therapy can help you and your partner to find safe and meaningful ways to reconnect with each other and to support each others' growth. Having a healthy intimate relationship also enhances your emotional wellbeing.
Couple/Marriage Counselling
The problems in a couple's relationship can be long-standing or brought on by a crisis or drastic change in life circumstances that may cause strain on the relationship.
Here are some common issues that can be addressed by couples therapy:
-
Emotional distancing between couples. This includes less communication and conversations are no longer meaningful, or couples giving less attention to their relationship.
-
Frequent arguments that go unresolved.
-
Lack of intimacy in the relationship
-
Broken Trust due to an affair or infidelity, or other issues such as gambling, addictions leading to erosion of trust between couples.
Pre-Marrital Counselling
You and your partner have decided to tie the knot, ready to plunge into a committed relationship. As you prepare for this big step in your relationship you are wondering about the longevity of your marriage. Premarital counselling prepares couples for marriage and the challenges that come with it; ensuring that you and your partner continue to have a healthy and strong relationship. Research shows that couples who get premarital counselling have better marriage satisfaction, and reduced rates of divorce compared to couples who do not. Premarital counselling can help couples to develop healthy communication and conflict management skills, plan for their future together, and provides an opportunity to address possible issues that may lead to divorce or dissatisfaction in the marriage.

Working with me
My approach to couple therapy
I believe in taking an approach that is experiential, helps couples to feel emotionally connected with each other and find ways to keep nurturing that bond. This ensures couples can achieve long-term benefits by getting to the core of their relationship distress.
I mainly use an approach called Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, which relies on emotional processing to help couples express their most vulnerable needs to each other.
This is an evidence-based couple therapy approach that is shown to be highly effective with about a 75% success rate.
If you would like to know more about Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and how it works, read my blog here: What is EFT & how would it help your relationship?
