Individual Counselling
" Knowing yourself is the beginning of all Wisdom" - Aristotle
I predominantly help individuals who would like to improve their most important relationships and gain deeper emotional clarity. Perhaps you have feelings of insecurity that get in the way of you having a happy and healthy relationship, or the negative patterns in your most important relationship cause emotional distress for you.
I am here to help you realise your full potential and live a life that is more aligned with your authentic self. Working on yourself enables you to have stronger, thriving relationships with others.
Individual Counselling
When you experience emotional or psychological distress and feel overwhelmed by it, it feels like the problems consume you that it becomes so difficult to find a solution or a way out. Imagine holding a book so close to your face that your nose touches it, the words in the book will be blurry and you can't read anything, but once you hold the book further away from yourself the words on the page become very clear and readable. Counselling works in a similar way, it gives you a distant or outside perspective to your problems so that you can find some clarity and resolution for your issues.
If you would like to work on yourself to improve your relationship with significant others, or simply improve your own wellbeing from issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, or challenging life transitions, then contact me now!

Working with me
What to expect in your first session
The first appointment is actually a get-to-know-you session, but foremost, I want to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable in the space with me. I would do this starting with general conversations about how you feel coming to therapy, especially if it's your first experience in counselling. If you have had previous counselling, I would talk to you about your previous experience of therapy and discuss if you have any particular expectations of me. I will also be open and transparent about what you can expect from therapy, how I work, and informing you about important policies in place, such as privacy and confidentiality, fee and cancellation policy, etc.
I also like to get to know you as a person in general, so before we speak about what brings you to counselling, I may ask you about what you do, whom you live with, how you spend your free time and whatever else you want to share with me about yourself. This way I start building an understanding of your current distress in the context of your life circumstances. We then try to explore what brings you to counselling, why you decided to seek help now, how the issues are affecting you emotionally, socially, physically etc, how long you have been dealing with your current problems, and what you have tried to do to resolve the issues. We will work together to make a plan for your ongoing sessions with me.
Child & Adolescent Counselling Sessions: I usually meet with the parent/guardian to do a developmental assessment and discuss the issues they are most concerned about their child. In some cases, especially adolescents, who may want to have a private session without parental involvement, I meet with the young person from the beginning, however, signed consent is required from both parents or legal guardians to provide therapy to all children under 18 years of age. If a child or adolescent is the referred client, I respect their confidentiality and privacy, which means I do not share contents of the therapy with parents, other than general feedback; unless the child gives me permission to share with parents or any safety concerns become apparent.
